Most discussions and interactions are based on adversarial thinking.  Much like debate, this destructive type of thinking positions parties with alternate views as opponents, allowing very little respect for new creative ideas.
Six Thinking Hats utilises parallel thinking, a powerful and constructive alternative to adversarial thinking.

The process separates thinking into deliberate categories and then keeps it focussed and on track. Six Hats provides a platform for open discussion,enabling teams to solve problems faster and overcome diversity and quickly cut through emotional issues, egos and tension to reach a superior decision with consensus.
